FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHO CAN PLAY LACROSSE?
Lacrosse is a great sport for both boys and girls. We currently offer a free K-2 skills clinic on Saturday mornings. We also have teams for 3rd/4th grades, 5th/6th grades, and 7th/8th grades. Teams practice 2-3 times a week and we aim to play a 10 game season. We also aim to enter a tournament at the end of the season.
WHAT IF MY SON/DAUGHTER HAS NEVER PLAYED BEFORE?
Don't worry, even the best lacrosse players had to start somewhere. Although lacrosse looks hard to play, most kids pick up the basics in just a few practices. Our goal is for kids to love lacrosse. Our practices are low pressure and focus on skills and drills that center on player development and teamwork.
WHAT IF WE DON'T LIVE IN LYNDHURST?
The Golden Bears are a club team that is a feeder program for Lyndhurst High School. While our roster is predominantly from Lyndhurst, we currently have athletes from North Arlington and other surrounding towns in our youth program. Currently, lacrosse players from North Arlington can play for the Lyndhurst High School Lacrosse Team alongside our Lyndhurst athletes. If your athlete wants to play lacrosse but your town doesn't have a team please contact us.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PLAY?
Our K-2 skills clinic is free. A stick is all that's required to start playing. We have sticks available or can recommend a stick for those who wish to purchase one.
Our 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th grade teams cost $150 a player and includes a jersey and shorts. A US Lacrosse membership is also required and costs $30 a year. We offer a family discount for those with multiple athletes and can help those who may be financially struggling, no child will ever be turned away.
WHAT EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED?
Lacrosse players 3rd grade and up need a lacrosse stick and are required to wear a helmet, mouth guard, gloves, elbow pads, and NOCSAE certified shoulder pads (these are new for 2022). Please see one of the coaches before purchasing anything.

Our K-2 program is sticks only. (we will have loaner sticks available)
MY SON/DAUGHTER PLAYS ANOTHER SPRING SPORT, CAN THEY STILL PLAY LACROSSE?
We always encourage athletes to find the sport they love. Many times kids are still trying to find that sport. We always welcome multi-sport athletes and usually find ways to work around scheduling conflicts. We would love your child to try lacrosse and we feel they will soon make it their spring sport of choice.
